In 2010, I left gainful employment to start my own branding consultancy. I observed that the advertising agency landscape was being challenged by the economy, the rise of in-house marketing teams, and a mass-amateurization of the product and skills agencies used to charge big bucks for, and so I decided to try something different. Something a bit more nimble, focused and flexible. Since that launch, the model has changed a bit, but the core values and vision have remained, allowing us to grow and flourish and partner with some incredible clients.
I hesitate to call myself an entrepreneur, as I don’t have any formal training, a burning desire to start and get out of multiple businesses, or a long-term plan to move to Silicon Valley (clearly I don’t even know what being an entrepreneur means), but despite my “protests,” I find myself to be annoyingly entrepreneurial – helping start a co-working space, launching a teaching and training division of Apples & Arrows, and starting a joke-but-surprisingly-real modeling agency.
I live in Wichita, Kansas. If you’re not from here, you likely have little to no impression of our city. I love it. I didn’t mean to land here, but the city has been good to me, it’s working towards an exciting future, and there are truly remarkable, incredible people who choose to make it their home.
